When a child with autism is behaving in a manner that is concerning and seemingly unmanageable, negative feelings such as fear, frustration, sadness, overwhelming anxiety, and a loss of self-confidence in knowing what to do can overcome a parent, teacher, or caregiver.
In these moments learning to take a step back, engage in mindful breathing, and ask yourself.

will assist in obtaining insight into how to thoughtfully respond to the behavior with a plan that improves the situation for both an immediate and long-term benefit.
